Jacques-Charles Oudry (1722 - 1778)
  • Place of Birth: Paris, France
  • Place of Death: Lausanne, Switzerland
Works of Art

Son of Jean-Baptiste Oudry, he trained and worked with his father. Jacques-Charles was admitted as candidate to the Academy in 1748 and became a full member later in the same year (his reception piece in Montpellier, Musée Fabre). His best work closely resembles that of his father in subject matter and style, although his draughtsmanship is weaker and his animal anatomy is often poor. He worked in Brussels and spent his last years as a drawing master in Lausanne, where he died in straitened circumstances.
