Works of Art

Born to a French Protestant family of papermakers, he learned to draw in Paris with his brothers Charles (1795-1824) and Alfred (1800-37). With Alfred he mastered the techniques of lithography and engraving and together they produced thousands of illustrations for publications of Romantic literature, Tony continuing on his own after Alfred's death. He also painted historical and genre scenes, exhibiting at the Paris Salon from 1831 to 1852.
