Gilder and painter, op. 1752 - 1788.
Son of Michel Chauvaux, a painter and vernisseur from Paris, and presumably the elder brother of Jean Chauvaux jeune, another painter and gilder at the factory. He joined Vincennes in October 1752. He worked chiefly as a gilder, but also as a painter. His work is records on tea, service and useful wares, plaques, and the column for a clock (see C487).
He married Marie-Bonne Gentil, one of their sons, Michel-Louis, becoming a painter at Sèvres.
