Bernard van Risen Burgh I (1660 - 1738)
Biography
Works of Art

Bernard van Risen Burgh I came from Holland and settled in Paris some time before 1696. Like many foreign cabinet-makers ('ébénistes') he settled in the rue du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine where the guild regulations did not apply and conducted a prosperous business specialising in the production of clocks in Boulle marquetry. His son, Bernard van Risen Burgh II, went on to become an eminent ébéniste of the middle of the 18th century.
