Jean Charles Simphorien Dubos (1719 - 1781)
Works of Art

Apprenticed at the Gobelins, in 1748 J.-C.-S. Dubos became a master (orfèvre privilégié) by virtue of his training. By 1752 his address was cour Lamoignon by he had moved to the pont au Change by the following year. He appears to have retired by 1766 and by 1781 he had moved from Paris. However, according to Nocq, during his brief career he appears to have taken a reasonable amount of gold for assay, which suggests that the mark found on gold boxes is his rather than that of Jean-Charles Ducrollay, who registered an identical mark in 1755.
