Painter and gilder, op. 1756 - 1782
He is recorded working at Chantilly in 1756, but arrived at Sèvres in the autumn of that year. After initial experimentation with painting figures, animals and landscapes, he became the factory’s most prolific painter of trophies and attributes. He also worked as a gilder on the Catherine II service.
He married Barbe Trichon, and their children Charles-Nicolas Buteux and Claude-Gilles-Guillaume Buteux also worked for the factory.
