Painter, gilder and burnisher, op. 1763 - 1774, 1782 - 1800
The eldest son of Charles Buteux. He entered the factory in November 1763 at the age of nine, and became a painter chiefly of flowers, in sprays, bouquets, garlands and various border patterns. He also applied a variety of different grounds and patterns. He frequently undertook gilding (often on pieces which he had also painted), and worked as a burnisher. Virtually all his work was on tea, service and useful wares. He contributed to the Catherine II service.
He married Marie-Catherine Roussel, presumably a sister of the painter of that name, and herself a painter.
