  • The bright skull of this plain but striking helmet carries a high, file-roped comb, a pointed peak over the eyes, and a flange at the back over the neck, all beaten out of one piece of metal. The edges are bordered with steel-headed rivets for the lining strap. The hinged cheek-pieces, each pierced with a circular group of holes, have upper edges moulded to embrace the sides of the peak, their hinges protected by flanges with serrated edges. They come forward to a point on each side of the face. A plume-holder of steel is riveted to the rear of the skull. A fragment of the padded canvas and tow lining remains. The surface is rough from the hammer.
