  • The surface of this helmet remains somewhat rough and was once heat-blued (now a dull black). The skull has a central ridge and a pointed apex, and a narrow peak over the eyes, 1.5 inches deep, forged in one with the skull. There is a pair of holes on each side of the skull for lacing in the padded lining cap. The skull carries hinged cheek-pieces, and a single-neck plate is riveted to the back. The edges are roped. A plume-holder is fixed on the left side behind the ear. Most of the rivets retain their original copper alloy caps.
