  • Morion with a high roped comb, made in two pieces, with sloping brim peaked front and rear, its edge channelled, turned under and roped. At the base of the skull is a row of brass-headed rivets (without rosettes) for the lining strap, a small portion of which, together with part of the ear-piece leather, remains on the left side. The surface is decorated with an etched design of interlacing strapwork forming quatrefoil panels containing trophies of arms on a granulated ground.
The whole surfacwas once fire-gilt, but the gilding has been rubbed off the plainer surfaces of the decoration. The brim is etched with gadrooned petals; on each side of the comb is an oval cartouche, that on the right side etched with a running horse, that on the left with a horse and another animal (a boar?). The etching throughout is poor. The plume-holder is missing, but was originally attached at the back of the skull on the left side.
