  • Longsword, the blackened hilt made up of a pear-shaped, gadrooned pommel; horizontally recurved crossguard; side-ring, hilt arms and counter-guards, all terminating in twisted and gadrooned knobs (writhen); shouldered grip fluted, roped and leather-bound. The blade is double-edged, with central groove inscribed SIGNOR, with a cross on both sides. The meaning of the inscription is uncertain.
