  • Mace, the head set with eight flanges shaped to a double scroll, and surmounted by a spherical knob; hollow steel haft of circular section tapering slightly towards the head, pierced above the grip for a lanyard; flat cap on the end with a moulded rim and a ring in the centre. The head is etched and then fire-gilt, scrolled foliage; the haft is fire-gilt with oblong panels filled with scrolls, interlaced strapwork and fleurs-de-lys in gold on a russeted ground.
