  • This vase shows decoratively stylized elements of antique architecture – a column-like neck, bands of Vitruvian scrolls and Greek-key patterns – illustrating the neoclassical influences that became fashionable in the 1760s. The model was only briefly in production during the late 1760s, and the only other example known today has a similar blue ground and gilded decoration.
    The gilt-bronze stand was probably made in France in the nineteenth century.
