  • Although trays of this model could also be sold individually, they were mostly bought by luxury dealers who had them mounted as the top or shelf of a small table. This piece is decorated with underglaze blue and green ground colours, and painted with three birds in a landscape. The blue ground is overlaid with a combination of 'caillouté' ('pebble-stone') and 'vermiculé' ('worm-tunnel') gilding. Like a matching tray in the Jones Collection, it is mounted in an English nineteenth-century table.
