  • Although trays of this model could also be sold individually, they were mostly bought by luxury dealers who had them mounted as the top or shelf of a small table. This piece is decorated with rose and green ground colours, and an exquisitely painted rustic scene by André-Vincent Vieillard, derived from a print after David Teniers the Younger. The table was specifically made to accommodate the tray, probably in France in the nineteenth century.
