  • This candelabrum appears to be a nineteenth-century version of the type of girandole illustrated by various designs of Boulle's 'Nouveaux Deisseins'. It lacks, however, the solidity of Boulle designs, as well as their use of human and satyr masks. The additional feet, with their projecting steel pins, were added early in the twentieth century in order to display the candelabrum on top of a porphyry column (F289).
