- With their heavy, truncated-column pedestals, these candlesticks (F136 and F137) are unlikely to date from later than 1770. They appear to derive from one of two plaster groups exhibited by E-M Falconet at the Salon of 1761. Falconet's groups were intended to be executed in silver, but were evidently carried out in gilt-bronze as well.
