  • The picture shows the martyrdom of Christ upon the Cross. Paulus Pontius engraved a copy in the same direction as the Crucifixion in 1631 after a drawing by Rubens (Rotterdam, Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum). Of the many versions of the composition, one in the Bob Jones University Collection, Greenville, may be autograph. The poor quality of the present work suggests that it is by a later follower of Rubens rather than by his studio.
