  • Saint Rose of Viterbo, identifiable from the flowers in her hand, was a thirteenth-century Franciscan saint. The inferior execution of the present work suggests that it is a simplified copy after a lost original by Murillo, the composition of which is known from a drawing in Turin (also a copy). The drawing shows the same figures full-length with additional saints and angels and a distant view of a preacher in a town.
