This is one of a series of forty-two watercolours, 'Trois années à Londres', commissioned by the flamboyant Russian collector Anatole Demidoff, Prince of San Donato, during Lami’s second extended stay in London 1848-52 (see also Lami, 'London: the State Opening of Parliament', P710).
