Commentary
History
  • Four ice-cream coolers from the service for Catherine II of Russia. The urn-shaped bucket has handles formed by caryatid figures with scrolling shoulders emerging from pilasters. Decorated with a turquoise-blue ground and upper frieze of gilded scrolls.
