  • This urn-shaped model possibly derives its title from the four roundels set within larger roundels on each side (‘solaire’ means ‘sun’ in French, here possibly in the sense of ‘solar system’).
The model was introduced in 1772 and seems to have been in production for only a year.
Decorated with a deep ‘beau bleu’ ground, the roundels are painted with cameo heads in grisaille, alternating with sprays of flowers.
The gilt-bronze stands are probably French and date to the nineteenth century.
