Jacques-François-Louis de Laroche (1740 - 1800)
Works of Art

Painter, gilder and burnisher. op. 1759 - 1801.

He arrived at Sèvres in 1758 or 1759 as a flower painter. He specialized chiefly in floral border patterns and flower sprays, only occasionally attempting more ambitious work. Painters’ records also include monograms, arabesques and Republican allegories. He frequently applied ground colours and patterning, and occasionally scraped away ground colours and worked as a gilder. Almost all his work was on tea, service and useful wares, but also occasionally worked on vases.

A Madame Laroche, presumably his wife, is also recorded in the painters’ records.
