Louis-François Lécot (1741 - 1800)
Works of Art

Painter, gilder and burnisher, op. 1763 - 1802.

He may have arrived at Sèvres as an unpaid pupil in October 1761. He drew a wage from July 1763 and appears in the pay rolls from 1772, first as a painter and then as a gilder. By 1773 he specialized in chinoiserie decoration, painting a wide variety of reserves and borders. The painters’ records also include flower sprays and garlands, butterflies, Etruscan decorations and arabesques. The majority of his work was on tea wares, mostly hard-paste cups and saucers with a wide variety of ground colours.
