Works of Art

Gilder and painter, op. 1753 - 1806.

He worked at Saint-Cloud before Vincennes in February in 1753. He applied blue ground colour for his first eight months, but then worked as a gilder and occasionally as a painter. He worked mainly on tea, service and useful wares, but also gilded a number of vases. He worked as a gilder on the Catherine II and Louis XVI services and on the toilet service of the comptesse du Nord. He also applied gilding to plaques for furniture (see C504 and C506).

He may have been the son of François Vincent, a painter at the Saint-Cloud factory, and Marie-Marguerite Boitreau, a seamstress. He was the younger brother of François-Henry Vincent, a worker at Mennecy and Saint-Cloud, a gilder at Sèvres (1752 – 1758).
