  • Powder-flask, of ivory, circular in form, in the centre of the front is a wreathed medallion representing a river scene with a man fishing and in the distance another shooting at a target; round this is a broad frieze carved with animated scenes of lion and stag hunting against a landscape background, the whole carved in relief with great elaboration and detail. The carved hunting scenes are seperated by lions' masks. The sides and back are plain except for a turned disc screwed into the centre for refilling; turned funnel of ivory carved with birds and foliage; the spring-cap is missing; two loops of gilt steel for suspension.

    Italian (?) about 1670.
