  • This box contains sixty-six games counters. They are part of a set which probably would have originally comprised eighty-eight pieces and been used for card games. Each counter bears the Imperial device of the bee either singly in the case of the round counters or in groups of three in the case of the rectangular. In the time of Sir Richard Wallace the set was stated to have belonged to the Emperor Napoleon, although there is no historical evidence to support this.
