Anderoli moved to Gubbio around 1490 and became the director of an active maiolica workshop.

Andreoli is considered to be the most important potter of the Italian Renaissance; he is famous as the inventor of a particular kind of lusterware, the chief characteristics of which are its beautiful gold and carmine colors. Andreoli did not design all of the works fired with his lustre, as potters of neighboring cities their works to him to be fired because of his great skill in the difficult luster technique.
