Painter, op. 1758 - 1780

Aloncle was a painter in Paris before joining Sèvres in May 1758. He first painted monochrome birds in landscapes, and possibly experimented briefly with pure landscapes and children in landscapes, before becoming one of the factory’s principal bird painters. His exotic birds in delicate landscapes became more naturalistic in the 1760s. In the 1770s he also painted animal subjects, some taken from Aesop’s (or possibly La Fontaine’s) Fables, and trophies; he may occasionally have painted flowers.

One week before his death he married Françoise-Feliticité Bulidon, daughter of the Sèvres sculptor Henri Bulidon.
