  • Fashioned entirely of gold, enamelled and jewel-encrusted throughout, this princely elephant goad was made specifically for exhibition and ceremonial purposes, rather than for use when riding an elephant. The haft is decorated with a spiral pattern of finely worked flowers and foliage in brightly coloured translucent enamel profusely set throughout with table-cut diamonds. The head is formed as an elephant, richly set with rubies.
