- Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821), military commander; First Consul 1799-1804; Emperor of the French 1804-14, 1815. The horse depicted here may be Le Vizir, an Arab grey given to Napoleon in 1808 by the Sultan of Turkey. Napoleon rode Le Vizir at Waterloo. There is a dead British infantryman on the right. Cf. Bellangé P671.
