- Exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1839. Decamps could have seen the villa, built in 1644-52 by Algardi and Grimaldi for Prince Camillo Pamphilj, on his visit to Rome in 1835. The villa and its gardens were frequently painted by French artists visiting the city.
