- This picture was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1837. It shows the village of Beilstein on the River Mosel, not far from the city of Koblenz, in Germany. The ruins of Metternich castle can be seen on the right. Stanfield toured the rivers Meuse, Rhine and Mosel between September and November 1836.
