  • Dated c.1847 by Mosby. The port of Smyrna, now Izmir (on the west coast of Turkey), was visited by Decamps during his Oriental tour in 1828. It was renowned for its cosmopolitan character (see also Decamps, 'The Turkish Patrol', P307).
