- A beautiful portrait painting by the artist that offers a good insight into his painting technique. The sitter has formerly been identified as Sophie Arnould (1744-1802) the foremost actress-singers of her day. There is no positive evidence for the identification before 1843, and the portrait is not particularly close to documented portraits of the actress.
