  • Lyon, the birthplace of Saint-Jean, had a major school of flower and still-life painting in the nineteenth century. Saint-Jean won a European reputation for his flower pieces, scrupulously painted in season and from nature. The arrangement in this picture includes convolvulus, dahlias, grapes and honeysuckle.
