  • A ‘déjeuner’ was a small tea set intended for breakfast and delivered with a tray.
    This set pairs a ‘gobelet Hébert et soucoupe’ and a ‘pot à sucre Hébert’, both with typically pear-shaped outlines (for other ‘Hébert’ wares, see Museum Nrs. C254, C255, C455), with a small tray. The 'plateau ‘du roi’ was probably one of the designs made for the large dinner service the manufactory produced for Louis XV in the early 1750s.
    All pieces are decorated with a green ground and painted with bucolic scenes of children in landscapes and rustic implements on the sugar bowl’s lid. Although the source has not been identified, the decoration is much in the style of François Boucher, whose designs were fequently used at the manufactory. They were painted by André-Vincent Vieillard (op. 1752-90), who specialised in this subject-matter.
